How TryTieBreak works: from the first step to the final decision — and how to connect the app to your desktop and AI assistant.

How the application works

Every TieBreak follows the same six steps:

  1. 1

    Create a TieBreak

    Pick one of the six decision-process types, add a title and description, and configure options, time slots or settings (like an access code or deadline).

  2. 2

    Invite participants

    Publish the TieBreak and share the link (or QR code). Participants need no account — they click, take part, done.

  3. 3

    Everyone gives input

    Everyone shares their preferences, concerns or availability privately and asynchronously. Live counters show who has responded.

  4. 4

    The AI mediator analyses

    When the room closes, the neutral AI mediator reviews all input and searches for a solution everyone can live with — without revealing names.

  5. 5

    Vote and decide

    The group votes: approve, stand aside or object. With consensus the decision is final; otherwise a follow-up round may start.

  6. 6

    Result and export

    The decision is shareable via a link, and the organizer can export a report (HTML or PDF). Date polls include a calendar file and RSVP.

PICK_OPTION

Vote on one winning option from a list — ideal for concrete choices like "where do we eat?" or "which vendor do we pick?".

Open decision

OPEN_DECISION

The AI proposes options based on everyone's input — useful when the group has ideas but no clear frontrunner yet.

Mediation

MEDIATION

Fairly resolve a disagreement or conflict. The AI acts as a neutral third party and searches for a solution both sides can accept.

Rank

RANK

Put options in order of preference — for a clear priority list, like ranking projects or candidates.

Yes / No

YES_NO

A simple vote on a clear question that needs a definitive answer — go/no-go or approving a proposal.

Date poll

DATE_POLL

Pick a moment together: everyone answers Yes, Maybe or No per time slot and the AI recommends the best date. Great for dinners, team outings and meetings — with a calendar file and RSVP.

Connect an AI assistant (MCP)

Use the MCP config file to connect TryTieBreak to your AI assistant (Zoo Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, …). Afterwards you can create and manage tiebreaks in plain language.

  1. Download the mcp.json file using the button below.
  2. Put it in your project root (or merge the contents into your existing MCP config).
  3. Restart your AI assistant — the TryTieBreak tools appear automatically.

Download the TryTieBreak icon and create a shortcut to the website — start the app with one click, even without installing the PWA.

  1. Download the icon using the button below.
  2. Right-click your desktop → New shortcut (or drag the icon to your Dock).
  3. Paste the website URL and pick the downloaded icon.
